January 14, 2021 – A company hoping to help close the digital divide between big city data internet users and their country counterparts has lodged a development application to build an $11 million data centre in Dubbo.
On a vacant block of land at Jannali Rd, Leading Edge Data Centres plans to build a data centre which the company’s chief executive Chris Thorpe says will pave the way for faster download speeds in Dubbo and surrounding towns.
“It will allow Dubbo to become a lot more independent for its communication needs because it streamlines its dependency on Sydney metropolitan,” he said.

“It’s going to be a lot quicker, faster, more efficient.”
Dubbo is one of 20 regional cities Leading Edge Data Centres aims to have a presence in.
