We’re proud to announce that Jarrett Appleby has joined Leading Edge Data Centre’s Senior Advisory Board. He is helping us to drive the business development and partnership strategies and the creation of our edge data centre product offerings.

As part of Leading Edge Data Centre’s Advisory Board, Jarrett is working closely with the team to create global partnership strategies and shaping Leading Edge Data Centre’s colocation and network services portfolio.

Jarrett is a high-performance executive with more than 30 years of success under his belt in developing and executing technology platform & IT solutions in the global market. He possesses a successful track record that is needed to make meaningful changes to the Australian Edge Data Centre ecosystem.

Edge Data Centres are vital infrastructure for Australia’s Regional digital economy, with Regional companies preparing for new capabilities into the cloud, big data and AI/IoT becoming mainstream. The need for scalable infrastructure has become critical to the success of any business. Leading Edge Data Centres wants to give Regional Australia the same opportunities and access as any other metropolitan area in Australia.

Leading Edge Data Centres is building data centre facilities across Regional Australia and has secured AUD$20m (USD$13m) in funds from Washington H. Soul Pattinson, a publicly listed Australian investment firm.

More than 20 Tier 3 data centres will be built across regional Australia, to provide faster internet speeds and direct cloud connectivity for regional areas, with the rollout starting in Newcastle and Tamworth at the end of this year. After the two sites are built, the rollout will continue to Albury, Wagga Wagga, Parkes, Dubbo and Coffs Harbour.

According to Leading Edge Data Centre’s CEO and founder Chris Thorpe, the company’s modular Tier 3 data centre design is prefabricated and built locally offsite, in Newcastle, NSW, with footprints that scale in 30 or 75 rack configurations, with all data centre hubs connected.

Jarrett is currently the CEO of Appleby Strategy Group, LLC, a CEO and Board advisory business for digital infrastructure that works with leading private equity and technology companies.  Currently, he is a strategic advisor to Blackstone Group, and he is on the board of SunGard Availability Services, a leading managed data centre solutions company based out of the US. In addition to this, he is a Board member of Unitas Global, an IT services company focused on managing hybrid cloud and cloud connectivity services, Previously, he has held multiple C-suite roles such as Chief Operating Officer of Digital Realty, Chief Operating Officer of CoreSite Realty, Chief Marketing Officer of Equinix, Chief Strategy and Marketing Officer at Reliance Globalcom and FLAG Telecom.
